Chinu Modi also known by his pen name, Irshad, is a Gujarati poet, novelist, short story writer and critic. He is a recipient of several awards including the Sahitya Akademi Award, Vali Gujarati Award and Narsinh Mehta Award. Dayal Na Pankhi (1967) was his first collection of one-act plays composed in a verse form and absurd style. He has written Ghazals like Kshano Na Mahelma, His first collection of ghazals (1972), followed by Darpan Ni Galima (1975), Irshadgadh (1979), and Afawa (1991), Inayat (1996) and Nakashanagar (2001).
